Internship Overview:
The HIV Program at PATH is seeking a highly motivated intern to support ongoing research and programmatic activities focused on Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV), and associated health issues in India and South Asia. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in public health research, market assessment, data analysis, and scientific writing while contributing to meaningful work that informs regional health policies and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Assessment:
- Conduct a comprehensive market assessment of underutilized HCV-related products in India and South Asia.
- Focus specifically on products such as Buprenorphine and needle/syringe programs in India.
- Identify barriers, gaps, and opportunities for improved uptake and accessibility.
2. Literature Review and Documentation:
- Conduct in-depth literature reviews on key topics including:
- The epidemiology and burden of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in India and South Asia.
- The intersection of Hepatitis C and mental health in the regional context.
- Assist in drafting technical documents, review articles, and scientific publications for internal and external dissemination.
3. Data Analysis:
- Perform secondary data analysis of existing datasets related to hepatitis and associated risk factors.
- Assist in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis for ongoing studies.
- Support policy review and contribute to analytical briefs and reports.
4. Project Support and Coordination:
- Participate actively in project team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Collaborate with other interns and team members across departments as needed.
- Undertake any additional tasks or assignments as directed by the PATH supervisor.
Expected Deliverables:
- A comprehensive review article on the role of HBV and HCV in the development of Hepatocellular Carcinoma in India.
- A technical brief or review article highlighting the connection between HCV infection and mental health outcomes in South Asia.
Candidate Profile:
- Background in Public Health, Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Epidemiology, or related fields.
- Strong academic foundation with proven skills in literature review, data analysis, and scientific writing.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated interest in infectious diseases, mental health, and health systems research is an asset.
